Sheila Fox’s bold mixed media paintings seek to capture the timeless beauty and spirit of Black women throughout history.  

Sheila Fox, also known under the name GodivaGoddess, is a self-taught mixed media artist based in Louisville, KY. Fox has been drawing for over 20 years, and painting for almost 6. Her vibrant portraits of Black women take inspiration from Fox’s own lived experience as an African American woman, as she seeks to celebrate her story and the stories of generations of Black women through the joy of artistic expression.

 “When I’m done creating and painting the face, my favorite things to do are style the hair and add the accessories. I feel that I’m the personal stylist for each piece I create.” - Sheila Fox

In addition to being an artist, Fox is a proud mother of four whose love for her family goes hand in hand with her passion for art. Her ultimate goal is to uplift and empower the viewer, as the act of creating does for her. Fox states, “My hope is that the majority of the viewers feel enriched, beautiful and classy. I want them to recognize themselves within my art and embrace the ultimate radiance of timeless modern fashion.”
